'Travel Notes' was created about 15 years ago by Jeff Hocking and was performed by a local theatre group here in Devon. It was so successful, a Cornish Theatre Group asked if they could do it too.
The show is based on the music from musicals set in a number of cities around the world, starting out in New York with songs such as New York New York from On the Town, 42nd Street, Lullaby of Broadway, NYC and others. It then moves to London with songs from the likes of Oliver and Me and My girl plus some solo spots. Paris follows where the music of Les Miserables features. Onward into Germany and a short stop in Berlin for music from Cabaret. Vienna follows and of course the Sound Of Music features here. Next the far east with music from the King and I, the islands and South Pacific and finally back to South America with a stop in Argentina, yes Evita may just feature here and finally a bright and colourful finale in the Copacabana Club in Cuba.
A chance for some real showbiz glamour with dancers, lavish costume, lights and glitter and great music. Each section features not only music but short script sections that link the songs or give a chance to act some of them. There is also some comedy so it truly is a show for all.
There are many solo and group opportunities as well as the big chorus numbers and chance for dancers to really enjoy themselves in some truly theatrical routines.
The show is all linked together by 'The Traveller', a narrator who enters the stage with a case in their hand and talks about where they are going next, it may be a ship or a train taking them and the effects create the illusion of travelling to each new place.
Come and take part and lets carry the audience around the world with us in a musical experience that is “TRAVEL NOTES”.
