Author Chris Gibson will be at the play reading, and says “The story of Kitty Jay, (and her grave on Dartmoor) a young woman who committed suicide in shame when she found herself pregnant in the late 18th Century is known to many. The cruelty of having her body buried at a cross roads to confuse her soul so she would never know eternal rest haunted me.

I asked myself questions - how did her parents react to this? Did Kitty Jay have siblings and how did they react? What sort of Christian church authorised this?”
