Directed by Jackie Wesley-Harkcom, this winner of the 1978 Pulitzer Prize for Drama uses a card game as a metaphor for life. With refreshing comedic moments, this is a brilliant reflection of later life.
Weller Martin, played by Philip Wesley-Harkcom, is playing solitaire on the porch of a seedy residential home for the elderly. Enter Fonsia Dorsey, a prim, self-righteous lady, played by Victoria Stevens. They discover they both dislike the home and enjoy gin rummy, so they begin to play and to reveal intimate details of their lives, is this a budding romance or will their secrets become weapons.
