Stepping Out by Richard Harris

  • The Ice Factory Studio Theatre Somerset Place Teignmouth. Devon TQ14 8EN UK (map)

THIS PRODUCTION IS AT PAVILIONS TEIGNMOUTH, NOT THE ICE FACTORY

Wonderfully funny and heart-warming, Stepping Out charts the lives of seven women and one man attempting to overcome their inhibitions and tap their troubles away at a weekly dance class.

Initially all thumbs and left feet, this unlikely but loveable crew is just getting to grips with the basics when they are asked to perform in a charity gala, and can’t quite believe it when they agree!

Each of these unique characters has a goal and story to tell. Over the course of several months we follow tap teacher Mavis and her colourful troupe through their journey towards a hopeful triumph at their recital finale.

This uplifting comedy is a tale of tap, tenacity and truth, where friendship is found, discoveries are made and challenges overcome. Feel good theatre at its best.

DIRECTED by JESSICA HUNTER

Jessica has been a drama teacher for 17 years and a devoted mum for 12. She is passionate about being creative and nurtures her love of the theatre through acting and directing. (Mostly directing due to paralysing stage fright and a penchant for being bossy).

Having directed productions for the Teignmouth Players and TOADS such as Blue Remembered Hills, Little Voice, Billy Liar, My Mother Said, and the hugely successful double run of Calendar Girls, she is very proud to be working with such a talented and dedicated team here on Stepping Out.
